Frequently asked questions

What is a relay race?
A relay race divides a long course among a team of runners who take turns running legs. Teams are typically 4-12 people. Relays range from short marathons split among 4 runners to 200-mile overnight adventures.
What is a Ragnar relay?
Ragnar is the largest relay series in the US with ~20 events. Teams of 6-12 runners cover approximately 200 miles in 24-36 hours, taking turns running legs of 3-8 miles. Road and trail formats are available.
What is Hood to Coast?
Hood to Coast is the original long-distance relay, running 199 miles from Mt. Hood to Seaside, Oregon. Called "The Mother of All Relays," it has sold out 26 years straight and accommodates about 1,050 teams.
How do I form a relay team?
Most relay events allow teams of 6-12 runners. You can recruit friends, coworkers, or running club members. Many events also have an "ultra" team option for smaller groups of 3-6 who each run more legs.
