About this event

Spring in New England is fresh green fields of asparagus, rhubarb and flowering apple trees. On this 22 mile ride through Connecticut River Valley farmland, we'll visit a well known Massachusetts farm that has grown asparagus for over 100 years. Thanks to the geology that created "Hadley Loam," this soil is recognized for growing some of the world's best asparagus. We'll roll past scenic waterfalls and a grist mill repurposed into a one-of-a-kind bookstore. We'll stop by historic Lake Pleasant, home to a community of American Spiritualists from 1870 until the 1970's. The peaceful and bucolic scenery lends itself to contemplation and connection with people and nature, as important then as it is today. Our final stop will be a picnic featuring local specialties overlooking the Connecticut River, before we pedal a short way back to the start.Ride level: Easy5 hours, 22.5 milesElev. 853 ftTour includes:- stops to sample local food and beverages- a visit to a farm harvesting asparagus by hand for 100+ years- a stop at the legendary Book Mill tucked away near a waterfall- a picnic lunch of local foods overlooking the river- 2 bicycle guides and support vehicle
