Salamander Racing invites you to race #1 of the 2026 Utah Gravity SeriesThe Showdown at Sundance Mountain ResortDownhill Mountain Bike Race Sunday, June 1The Utah Gravity Series opener is back at Sundance Mountain Resort. This year's race will feature the version of the rippin' Sundance downhill track that was introduced at last year’s race. Downhill and Enduro bikes are equally popular race bike choices. Bike handling skills and endurance are keys to a good result. Expect finish times to be over 4 minutes. The race will start at the Outlaw Lift summit. All racers will run at 1 minute start intervals. Downhill limited to 180 entrants.Downhill Start TimesSunday Downhill Race at 11:00 a.m. starting with Cat 2 and 3. Cat 1 and Pro will start shortly after the completion of the Cat 3s. The race will be a 1-run format. Please be at the Start Gate early. If you miss your start time, you won’t get a timed run. You should be loading on the Outlaw Lift no later than 30 minutes prior to your posted start time. Individual start times for the Downhill Race will be posted at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday at the base of the Outlaw Lift.Course Opening and Lift InfoDownhill track will be ready for full course inspection Saturday morning. The lift opens at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and will begin loading at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.Lift fees are NOT included in your race entry fee. You must purchase a lift pass from Sundance Mountain Resort for each day you plan on riding the lift. The Resort is offering a discounted “Race Weekend Special” per-day rate of $45 from May 29 to May 31, and will be available to registered racers only during that time frame. To receive the discounted rate, you must purchase lift tickets online by going to www.sundanceresort.com and entering code Showdown26. Lift passes are not transferrable.AwardsThe Downhill Award Ceremony takes place a.s.a.p. after racing on Sunday, at the finish area. Medals will be presented to the top 3 finishers in each Cat/Class (cash purse for Pro Class). A valid racing license is also required and prices are as follows:Ages 6 to18 is free.Ages 19-22 are $35 if purchased online at USA cycling, $40 at event registration.Ages 23+ are $75 if purchased online at USA cycling, $80 at event registration.All annual licenses are good for 1-year from the purchase date.(On-site accepts cash or check only.)Unlicensed riders must purchase a 1-day USAC license for each day they race. 1-day licenses are $15/day for Novice (Cat 3) racers. These can be purchased online at www.usacycling.org or at onsite registration.An ‘experienced’ 1-day license for Pro, Cat 1 and Cat 2 racers can be purchased prior to the event at www.usacycling.org only.Parking InformationPlenty of parking is open at the upper parking lots in Lots C, D and E near the finish line area and Mountain Camp registration. There will be no race parking at the lower lots of Sundance Resort. No Camping is allowed at Sundance Mountain Resort.Spectator InformationThere’ll be plenty of room near the finish line for Sunday’s DH race, providing a great spectator venue.Lift passes are available to the public for purchase. Sundance has various great dining options from to-go to sit-down fine dining.
