The Cholangiocarcinoma Crushers 5k: In Memory of Lois Cheek Join us for a meaningful morning of community and hope as we honor Lois Cheek and all those fighting bile duct cancer. Every step taken and dollar raised goes directly to help find a cure and improve the quality of life for patients with this cancer.Whether you are a seasoned runner or a casual walker, all paces and ages are welcome! About Cholangiocarcinoma: Bile duct cancer, or cholangiocarcinoma, is a rare and aggressive cancer that forms in the thin tubes (bile ducts) that carry digestive fluid from the liver to the small intestine. It typically affects people over 50, often remaining undetected until advanced stages, when it causes symptoms like jaundice. About 15,000 people are diagnosed with this rare disease in the US every year and treatment often involves surgery, chemotherapy, or immunotherapy.
