Although we hope your time flies with us (see what I did there?), this is not a timed event. The winner is the STOMPER who catches the most number of deer flies. Yes, we will actually count the deer flies. Rules? There's not a lot of rules...the "Dee Berry" rule (you can't steal somebody else's patch) is the only real rule. Prizes to top 3 STOMPERS! Over the past 16 years we have caught approximately 3500 deerflies (plus at least 1 horsefly...grrrr) AND donated over $14,000 to the Alzheimer's Association! About 1 in 9 people (10.9%) age 65 and older has Alzheimer’s dementia. 1 IN 3 Seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia. It kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. The lifetime risk for Alzheimer's at age 45 is 1 in 5 for women and 1 in 10 for men. Alzheimer's disease was the fifth-leading cause of death among people age 65 and older in 2021.
