SBT GRVL (pronounced "Steamboat Gravel") is a premier gravel cycling event through the stunning Yampa Valley in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Set against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, this event combines world-class gravel riding with the mountain town atmosphere that makes Steamboat Springs legendary.
DISTANCES: - Black Course: 144 miles with 9,000+ feet of climbing — the ultimate test - Blue Course: 104 miles through the heart of the Yampa Valley - Green Course: 64 miles of scenic gravel riding - Yellow Course: 37 miles — accessible introduction to gravel
THE COURSE: All courses start and finish in downtown Steamboat Springs and traverse a mix of gravel roads, county roads, and ranch land through the Yampa Valley. Riders pass through working cattle ranches, cross mountain passes, and enjoy panoramic views of the Continental Divide, Flat Tops Wilderness, and the Elk River Valley.
The terrain ranges from smooth, packed gravel to rocky, technical sections. Elevation ranges from 6,700 to 9,500+ feet, adding the challenge of altitude to the mix.
The race weekend features a downtown expo, group rides, and Steamboat's renowned hot springs, restaurants, and mountain town culture. Registration is lottery-based due to high demand.
