Tentative itinerary as of 6/28, subject to change! Iola XC Ski Camp Schedule - August 7-9, 2026 Cost $80 for sign up by July 15. $90 after July 15. T shirts for early sign ups by July 7. Who is this camp for? Avid Middle School and High School Athletes entering grades 6-12. Some experience with roller skiing is recommended for safety, comfort and fun. List of required gear at the bottom of this section. Excited to see you all out there! FRIDAY 3:30 - 4:30 PM: Check-in and tent setup. IWSC parking lot 4:30-5:15PM: intros, camp overview, meet & greet 5:30 - 6:30 PM: Session 1 - pole bounding ski-bounding technique session on the grassy IWSC trails 7 PM: Group Dinner (Spaghetti, include GF options) 7:45 PM: Campfire, icebreaker games, and s'mores 9:30 PM: Quiet time (10:00 PM lights out) SATURDAY 8:00 - 8:45 AM: Breakfast at the chalet (scrambled eggs and oatmeal) 8:45 AM: Drive to Iola Car Show grounds 9:15 - 10:45 AM: Session 2 - Skate Rollerski & Agility (90 min) (Pavement grid at car show grounds. 45 mins of agility/balance games and technique work, followed by 45 min steady skate in groups based on age and experience) 10:45-11 snack break and change into classic gear 11:15- 12:30 PM: easy classic zone 1 or double pole at Car Show grounds (technique focus, easy) 12:45- shuttle back to IWSC 1- 1:45 lunch and rest 2-3 PM: Session 3 - Optional Bike Ride or Free Time Option A: Mountain biking on IWSC trails/singletrack Option B: Easy road/hybrid bike ride on local roads Option C: Yard games (Spikeball, Cornhole) at the chalet 3:15 PM: Load up vans for the beach 3:30 - 5:00 PM: Sunset Lake Swim & Relax (Swimming and hanging out at the beach) 6:30 PM: Dinner (Taco Bar at the chalet) 7:45 PM: Campfire, maybe games 9:30 PM: Quiet time (10:00 PM lights out) SUNDAY 8:00 - 8:45 AM: Breakfast at the chalet 9:15 - 11:15 AM: Session 4 - Over-Distance Trail Run & Hike (Ice Age Trail starting right from the chalet. Steady trail run mixed with ski-bounding/pole-hiking up hills. Middle schoolers loop back around 60-75 mins, high schoolers go the full 2 hours) 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Lunch (Deli sandwich bar and watermelon) 12:30 - 1:30 PM: Camp clean-up, pack up tents, and departures PACKING LIST: Camp gear Rain gear (we may modify the schedule in the event of inclement weather) Consider fenders for roller ski in case of some rain Carb mix and snacks Running shoes (preferably trail shoes) Bounding poles (old classic poles cut roughly 10cm shorter than normal) Camp & Beach Gear: Swimsuit and towel Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and pillow Camp chair and hammock Bug spray and sunscreen Running & Biking Gear (extra shorts, sports bra, etc) Mountain bike or road/hybrid bike (optional) Essential Gear: Skate rollerskis, boots, and skate poles Helmet (mandatory for all roller ski and cycling sessions) High-vis shirt or vest (mandatory for any activities on public roads) Classic rollerskis, boots, and poles (if you don't have these we can work on double poling instead) Other details: Parents accompanying athletes may bring RVs or campers. No electricity will be provided. No hookups on site. There will be portable toilets on site and the chalet will be accessible for kitchen, bathroom access. Parents, please plan to bring your own food or be willing to volunteer. Thanks!
