About this event

Gran Fondo New York — GFNY World Championship

The GFNY World Championship is the most competitive mass-participation cycling event in the world, attracting 5,000+ riders from 90+ countries to race a 100-mile gran fondo starting from the George Washington Bridge.

THE COURSE: The challenging course heads north from Fort Lee, NJ through the scenic roads of Rockland County and the Hudson Valley. Riders tackle Bear Mountain's grueling climb, the rolling hills of Harriman State Park, and the infamous Alpine climb before returning to Fort Lee. Total elevation gain exceeds 8,500 feet across the 100-mile championship course.

A shorter 50-mile GFNY BEAR course is available for riders seeking a challenging but shorter experience.

RACE FORMAT: Unlike casual gran fondos, GFNY is a timed, competitive event with official rankings, age group awards, and qualification for the GFNY World Championship. Riders receive a timing chip, and results are published with full race analytics.

The race weekend includes an expo at Pier 76 in Manhattan, pasta dinner, and a post-race festival with food, beer, and awards. GFNY has expanded to 30+ events worldwide, but the NYC championship remains the crown jewel.
