We own and operate the largest animal shelter in Lorain County. We are dedicated to ensuring that no animal should suffer without the basic necessities to live a healthy life, providing the education to promote and nurture the human/animal bond and treating all those who seek our help with kindness, dignity and respect.Friendship APL receives no government funding. We depend on the generosity and financial support of friends and neighbors, and on various fundraisers, to serve the people and animals of Lorain County. For sponsorship information, please contact Friendship Animal Protective League friendshipapl5k@gmail.com. 100% of proceeds from this race go to Friendship APL's mission. Thank you for your support! We ask that those running with dogs start towards the back and please keep your dogs on a short leash. The race route is out and back so we will need all participants to be aware of runners coming back on the other side of the trail.*The number of "rentable" shelter dogs available will be dependent upon the dogs up for adoption at the shelter as of the day of the event, as well as the weather that day. FAPL will bring as many dogs as is possible, but please be aware that we may only be able to bring a handful, and potentially none, depending upon the aforementioned circumstances. Available dogs can be "rented" for a discretionary donation to the shelter, with a suggested donation of $15-20.
